‘ADULT BEGINNER BALLET’ SHORT DOCUMENTARY

TO SCREEN AT HEART OF GOLD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

San Francisco, CA, January 28, 2010 – The Heart of Gold International Film Festival takes place March 11-14th 2010 at the Gympie Civic Centre’s Heritage Theatre in Queensland, Australia.  The festival showcases films that are entertaining, uplifting, thought-provoking and express a positive view of the world and humanity.  ‘Adult Beginner Ballet,’ a short documentary by San Francisco filmmaker Michelle Ortega, will be among the films screened that week.

'Adult Beginner Ballet,' is about adults of various ages, skill levels, medical conditions and sizes who take a beginning ballet class at the renowned Alonzo King LINES Dance Center in San Francisco.  The film features Kathy Mata, a dedicated instructor, who is determined to teach adults the beautiful and technically challenging art of ballet.  For a link to the trailer, visit:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtnsY5uRLwg.

‘Adult Beginner Ballet’ classes are growing in popularity and play a significant part in the mind, body and spirit of these adult students.  Properly taught and practiced, ballet helps to increase bone density, balance and strength.  The human body never loses the ability to benefit from exercise and ballet can be a great way to get fit and healthy.  As Ms. Mata states, “adults are capable of a lot and I believe in everyone.”

Tickets for The Heart of Gold International Film Festival go on sale following the program launch in February 2010 via their website at www.heartofgold.com.au or from the ticketing office in Gympie.
